The Binnewith Lodge was consecrated in 1946, 18 months after the cessation of the hostilities of the 2nd World War.
After the war many returning soldiers were drawn to masonry, the Royal Military Lodge had so many Members joining that it was felt that a newly formed lodge would be beneficial.
Petitioners came from various walks of life and composed a Clergyman, Professional & Businessmen and Artisans.
The name comes from the Island of Binnewith (meaning within the willows) which runs parallel to Stour Street and lies between two sections of the river, originally it was the location of a Franciscan Friary (1224).
The Lodge Crest is the Canterbury Cross, surrounded by a wreath of Willows.
The inscription included is “Inter Vimina Servimus” (Amongst the Willows).

We pride ourselves in being a hardworking and friendly lodge.
Working hard for charities and our rituals, where we strive to be the best.
We hold seven ‘regular’ meetings a year (on the 1st Tuesday of :-Feb, Mar; Apr; May; Oct; Nov; Dec) We also hold what is called Lodge of Instructions (LOI) on the Tuesdays when we don’t hold a regular meeting.
